Community Supported Agriculture

2008 Overview
Fisher Farms has 20 CSA memberships in 2008. All memberships are spoken for at this point. This is our second year offering a CSA membership. Hopefully we will have it enough under control that in 2009 we can offer 30 memberships. But one step at a time.

How does it work?
Community Supported Agriculture works like this:  The community member purchases a share in the spring and receives about $22 worth of veggies every week from mid May until mid October. In that time frame, there are 2 weeks of dry goods and 2 weeks off. This accommodates the natural rhythm of the season. The monies spent are non-refundable and are meant to help the farmer if there is a crop failure. Now from the farmers perspective, crop failure is a bad thing - so it is wished to be avoided. And keeping members extremely satisfied and happy is a good thing. Ideally, the farmer keeps the member so happy that the relationship continues for years.

In addition to the food, CSA members are included in their own private email group so they can share cooking experiences and ideas.  Since everyone in the Community is playing with the same food - there are bound to be some wonderful recipes exchanged!

This year we are delivering on Tuesdays. There are 4 drop off locations; one in Charlotte, one in Salisbury, one in Concord and One in Huntersville. We do not make private deliveries.
